Lock-S Software - Difference between New Key, Duplicate Key and Add Key – First Card, Other Card

Program one card per room

Generally, you should follow this method: Program one card per room and any additional cards select 'Duplicate'.

New Key:

Issue this card to invalidate all previous Guest cards

Duplicate Key:

Issue this card to take the same 'access rights' as the 'New Key'. The time/date parameters are redundant. This selection is a direct 'copy' of the 'New Key'

Add Key:

Issue this card to take new 'access rights' as the 'New Key'. The time/date parameters will be encoded onto the card. This selection will let you program multiple Guest cards (with different parameters) to a room without invalidating previous Guest cards.

Program more than one card per room

  1. You can progressively unroll an unlimited amount of Guest cards for a room.
  1. In the 'Card(s)' drop-down, select how many cards you would like to program in one go.
  1. The encoder window will appear and signify to enroll the first card, the second, and so on.
  1. For the first card, it will take the properties of the First card selection. See above for definition of the First card selection. Generally you should select 'New Key' for the new set of guest cards. This will invalidate all previous Guest cards.
  1. For the second card, third card, and so on; it will take the access privilege of the Other Card selection. Generally, you should select 'Duplicate' for this. NOTE: It will assign all cards to the same parameters. If you want to select different parameters for different 'Add Key' cards. You need to do it manually one by one.
